Alumna

We have another graduate in the fam jam! Little baby Leigh Leigh got her alumna status on Tuesday. We've come a long way since a lot of these:

1. She used to carry a stuffed animal kitty cat to preschool every single day.
2. She asked our mom to homeschool her after her first day of kindergarden.
3. She taught me how to be scrappy when we used to fight. Believe it.
4. In high school we could never agree on what to listen to in the car. Somehow we finally settled on Panic at the Disco. I mean, really?
5. There was that brief period of time that she thought the words to "Burnin' Up" by the Jonas Brothers were "I'm slipping into the llama" instead of "lava".
6. Once she got the cheap tickets to the Coldplay concert while I sprung for the more expensive ones up front. They ended up doing a set right in front of her.
7. We say weird things and make weird faces.
8. When we were put in time out, sometimes we'd tag team it and sing at the top of our lungs together to be obnoxious.
9. We used to dress our baby brother up in our old dance costumes before he was too old to realize we were torturing him.
10. She told me she would get her ears pierced if I went first. Well, she lied, but after my reaction to metal piercing through my ear lobe, I can hardly blame her.

march on

Soooooo...it's March.
The month of love is no more.
The Olympics will roll around again in two more years.
The Ides of March is coming. Beware.
Everyone will get really into March Madness and talk about "brackets" all month. (Last time I checked, a bracket was the key directly to the right of the "P" on my keyboard.)
St. Patrick's day is coming up...the best day to pull the whole, "Yea, I'm 1/8 Irish." But really, I am. (I like John Mayer's take on it.)
Spring will officially be here in 20 days.
Which means Spring Break will soon be here.
Which means that all the lean cuisines will be gone at the grocery store and it will be impossible to find a machine to use in the gym.
But one of my favorite things about spring is the whole idea of birth/rebirth.
Yea, I'm a nerd. I think about those things. But it's true. I mean, obviously, all of the flowers bloom, all of the birds come out to sing again, all of the cute baby animals are born, and everyone starts having really bad allergy attacks. Cool, those have been a part of spring since God created it that way (well, maybe not the last one). But it's a time for a fresh start. We get to begin another season of life. This spring, I'm ready.

Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee
God of glory, Lord of love
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee
Opening to the sun above
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness
Drive the dark of doubt away
Giver of immortal gladness
Fill us with the light of day

All Thy work with joy surround Thee
Earth and heaven reflect thy rays
Stars and angels sing around Thee
Center of unbroken praise
Field and forest, vale and mountain
Chanting bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in Thee
